Eligibility

DHA’s subsidized housing programs are meant to assist low- and moderate-income people and families. Subsidized housing is provided to families, seniors and disabled individuals whose income is between 50% and 80% of median area income. You may be surprised to find that income qualifications do not have to be extremely low. We have a variety of housing programs available at a broad range of income limits. To find out if you qualify for housing assistance, follow the steps below.

Step 1:

Step 2:

CHECK OUT DHA’S PROPERTIES

Income limits are listed in the property description for every property on this website. If your income falls at or below the listed limit, then you may be eligible.

Step 3:

YOUR HISTORY

DHA is a landlord.  As a landlord, we make sure that our applicants will be good tenants.  This involves checking criminal history, landlord references, and past rental history with other subsidized programs.

  • DHA has specific guidelines at each of our properties regarding serious crimes, especially drug-related activity, or violence. We run a criminal record check on every household member listed on the application who is over the age of 18. All applicants must not be subject to the lifetime sex offender registry.
  • DHA requires good references from the places you have lived for the past three years. If there is a good reason you can’t provide these, we may be able to use other types of references.
  • You will not be eligible for assistance if you owe any money to DHA or any other housing authority.
